UNRWA announces a job opportunity with Unrwa to work as a health specialist. For 70 years, the UNRWA health program has been delivering comprehensive primary health care services, both preventive and curative, to Palestine refugees, and helping them access secondary and tertiary health care services. UNRWA uses the life-cycle approach in its health services, helping Palestine refugees at every stage of their lives, from pre-conception to
active ageing. Over 3 million refugees access UNRWA’s health services. As part of its ongoing efforts to improve the quality and accessibility of the primary health care services it delivers to Palestine refugees, UNRWA has introduced the family health team approach. This reform has introduced a shift in focus where care is provided considering the comprehensive health status or family history of an individual, through multidisciplinary medical teams aiming to protect and promote family health.

To qualify for this position, you will need:

  1. A first-level university degree from an accredited educational institution in medicine with a master in public health with concentration on health services management or a related discipline.

  3. performance management, monitoring and evaluation of health systems delivery programs.

  7. UNRWA staff are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, neutrality and impartiality at all times. This includes respect for and commitment to human rights, diversity, and non-violent means of dealing with all kinds of conflict.
  8. Only persons who fully and unconditionally commit to these values should consider applying for UNRWA jobs. UNRWA is a non-smoking work environment.

About UNRWA:

Following the 1948 Arab-Palestinei conflict, UNRWA was established by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 302 (IV) of 8 December 1949 to carry out direct relief and works programs for Palestine refugees. The Agency began operations on 1 May 1950. In the absence of a solution to the Palestine refugee problem, the General Assembly has repeatedly renewed UNRWA's mandate, most recently extending it until 30 June 2020. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions from the UN Member States. UNRWA also receives some funding from the Regular Budget of the United Nations, which is used mostly for international staffing costs. The Agency’s services encompass education, health care, relief, and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance and emergency assistance, including in times of armed conflict.
